The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the district magistrate of Varanasi to ensure the protection of the area where a shivling was reported to be found.
Supreme Court also said that Muslims should not be restricted or impeded from accessing the Current Gyanvapi mosque to offer Namaz or perform religious observances.
The Varanasi district court had earlier ordered to seal the area where shivling was found and also restricted the number of people to 20 who can offer Namaz.

Special teams of the Central bureau of investigation on Tuesday conducted simultaneous searches on the premises of the Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram and his associates at multiple locations in the country.
Raids were conducted in connection with a visa scam that took place when his father was the Union Minister in 2011.
The fraud was conducted by a Chinese company which was working on a thermal power project.
