Evidence collected during the survey at the offices of the BBC has shown that tax has not been paid on certain remittances which have not been disclosed as income in India by the foreign entities of the group, the tax department said in its first formal statement on the surprise survey operations.
The income tax department had conducted marathon survey operations at the BBC in national capital and Mumbai that ended on Thursday.
The survey allegedly revealed that despite substantial consumption of content in various Indian languages, the income and profits shown by various group entities is not Commensurate with the scale of operations in India.
Income tax department observes that dilatory tactics were employed, including in the context of producing documents.

Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdolahian will not participate in the Raisina dialogue apparently because of differences with organiser Observer research Foundation over a promotional video which showed anti Hijab women protestors in Iran with an image of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi in the background.
Iran wanted the images removed but ORF did not agree.
The 1.50 second video features clips on key global challenges and developments including the war in Ukraine, global pushback to China’s aggressive behavior in South China Sea and the Women’s protests in Iran.
The Raisina dialogue is considered India’s premier conference on geo politics and geo economics.
It is being organised by the Observer research Foundation in Collaboration with the MEA.
# GAIL
India’s biggest gas firm GAIL, is looking to buy upto 26% stake in an LNG project in the US in an attempt to shore up supply sources to meet rising demand.
GAIL (India) has run into supply disruptions last year after Russia owned Gazprom marketing and Trading failed to deliver Contracted liquefied natural gas due to western sanctions on Moscow over its invasion on Ukraine.
Liquefaction plant converts natural gas into the liquid form, enabling its seaborne transportation.

With the Supreme Court giving the municipal Corporation of Delhi 24 hours to issue the notice for mayoral polls, the civic body has put the process on Fast track.
The final date will be as per the recommendation of the Delhi government and subject to the LG’s clearance.
