# Cyclone Tauktae

 

 

  • High speed winds, heavy rain and high tidal waves swept the coastal belt of Kerela, Karnataka and Goa due to cyclone Tauktae.
  • According to the IMD, Tauktae has intensified into a ” very severe cyclonic storm”.
  • It will further intensify during the next 24 hours and reach the Gujarat coast on monday evening.

  • The number of new covid-19 cases in India has shown a consistent dip in the past week.

  • There was also a drop in the test positivity rate, that fell from 22.6% to 19% in the same period.

 

 

 

# Israel bombs Hamas terrorists

 

 

  • Israel bombed the house of Hamas chief in Gaza early on sunday.
  • Atleast 153 people have been killed in Gaza since monday, including 42 on sunday, the highest death toll in a single day.
  • The security council meet on sunday to discuss the worst outbreak of Israeli-Palestinian violence in years.
  • Israel has reported 10 dead, including two children.

 

 

 

# J&K vaccination drive

 

 

  • The covid-19 vaccination drive has come almost to a halt in the Kashmir valley.
  • Jammu had already administered 5,63,880 doses compared to Srinagar’s 1,97,570.
  • Jammu division with 10 districts, has been able to administer doses to 85.66% of its population compared to the Kashmir division with 10 districts at 61.25%.

 

 

 

# State wise covid positivity

 

 

  • While the number of new covid-19 cases in India has shown a consistent dip in the past week and there was also a drop in the test positivity rate.
  • Bihar, Chattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya pradesh, Uttar pradesh and West Bengal are the states where positivity rate is falling even as testing levels increased.
  • States such as Punjab, Odisha, Tamil nadu, Kerela and Himachal pradesh have been increasing their rate of testing, but there TPR has also increased.
