# CBI

  • After the Excise policy probe, Ex Deputy CM Manish Sisodiya faces a fresh CBI investigation.
  • CBI has filed an FIR against Sisodiya and five others, including former vigilance secretary Sukesh Jain, in connection with Delhi government’s feedback unit, allegedly used for snooping and collecting political intelligence.
  • The FIR was filed on March 14 after CBI received sanction from the home ministry and LG to proceed against the accused.
  • FBU was misused by public servants concerned for purposes other than the one for which it was manifestly created

# Defense ministry

  • The defense ministry on Thursday gave preliminary approval to major military modernisation projects worth ₹70584 crore, which included 69 maritime helicopters, 225 Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles and 307 heavy duty artillery guns.
  • The Rajnath singh led defense acquisitions council accorded the acceptance of necessity, which is the first stage in the long procurement process to all the projects under there “Buy IDDM” (indigenously designed, developed and manufactured) category.
  • Most of these procurements will have to be eventually cleared by the PM led cabinet committee on security because of their huge costs.
  • The biggest proposal cleared was the ₹32000 crore one for 60 utility helicopters marine.

# Nepal

  • Nepal’s PM Pushpa kamal Dahal prachanda is likely to travel to India on an official visit next month.
  • It will be his first foreign trip since assuming the office for third time in December last year.
  • The date of visit will be decided once he get the vote of confidence from the House of representatives.

# Credit Suisse

  • Credit Suisse sought to shore up its liquidity and and resolve investor confidence on Thursday by borrowing upto $54 billion from Switzerland’s central bank.
  • The move will only provide a limited respite to global banking stocks.
