# Covid-19

  • On Sunday, India recorded 2,55,025 new covid-19 cases, a 40℅ increase from the previous week.
  • The total number of infections has reached 3.72 crore, and the active cases have crossed the 16.2 lakh mark.
  • Sunday marked the completion of one year since India started it’s vaccination drive.
  • As of Sunday, 89.4℅ of the eligible population has been vaccinated with atleast one dose, while 64.4℅ have received both doses.

# Punjab poll

  • Punjab chief minister Charanjit singh channi wrote to the election Commission of India, demanding the postponement of the 14th february assembly election in Punjab.
  • 14th February is celebrated as Ravidas jayanti.
  • Bhartiya janta party and Punjab lok congress has also raised the similar demand.

# Texas terror attack

  • All four persons taken hostage in a more than 10 hour stand off at Texas synagogue were freed unharmed.
  • The suspect has been shot down.
  • Suspect has been identified as a 44 year old British citizen named Malik faisal akram.
  • Terrorist Faisal akram was demanding the release of another terrorist Aafia siddiqui – a terrorist of Pakistani origin.

# Volcano

  • A massive volcanic eruption in Tonga that triggered Tsunami waves around the Pacific caused significant damage to the Island nation.
  • The full extent of damage is still not apparent as the communication lines are cut off.
  • The eruption on Sunday was so powerful that it triggered tsunami across Pacific coastlines from USA to Japan.
