# Supreme Court

  • In a first, the election Commission on Thursday issued separate notices to three parties – BJP, Congress and CPM – for there poll eve and poll day tweets either seeking votes or persuading electors to vote out for the incumbent.
  • Assembly elections were held in Tripura on Thursday.
  • Election Commission said that campaign restrictions during the 48 hours silence period shall apply as much to the social media space.
  • Social media posts by BJP, CPM and Congress within 48 hours of the silence period is seen as the violation of section 126 of the representation of the people’s act by the election commission.

  • YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, who has led the global online video sharing and social media platform for the past nine years, is stepping down from her role.
  • She will be replaced by her long time Indian American lieutenant Neel Mohan.
  • Wojcicki said in her blog post that she will focus on “family, health and personal projects”.

# Cheetahs

  • Twelve more Cheetahs (seven males and five females) will be translocated to India on Saturday taking the total number of Spotted felines in the country to 20 under ongoing cheetah reintroduction plan.
  • The new batch of 12 cheetahs will come from South Africa to gwalior using a C-17 globemaster aircraft of the Indian Airforce.
  • The IAF aircraft left the Hindon airbase in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday for South Africa to pick up the Cheetahs.

  • The government will undertake a fresh auction of FM radio stations, roll out an OTT Platform and conduct trials of direct to mobile television broadcast this year.
  • Currently, FM radio covers only 60% of the Indian geography.
