The Union cabinet on Wednesday approved a 76000 crore rupees scheme to boost semiconductor and display manufacturing in the country.
The total amount of incentives announced so far for the electronics sector has reached 2.3 lakh crore.
The scheme would provide fiscal support of upto 50℅ of the project cost for setting up semiconductor and display fabrication units.

The Union cabinet on Wednesday cleared a bill on electoral reforms.
The bill includes the proposal to link electoral roll with aadhar on a voluntary basis to root out multiple enrollments.
The bill is likely to be introduced in the ongoing winter session.

The rupee plunged by 44 paise to close at a 20 month low against US dollar on Wednesday.
The rupee has been under pressure for the past five weeks due to consistent forex outflows on expectations of faster rate of tapering by the US.
A higher trade deficit number and the surge in wholesale price index based inflation also impacted the rupee.

Indian cabinet on Wednesday approved a $13 billion incentive plan to promote domestic rupay debit cards and low value digital transactions.
This move can challenge the clout of rivals such as Visa and Mastercard.
