# PM Modi

  • Addressing the country from the ramparts of the red fort in New Delhi on the 76th independence day, Prime minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India was entering a decisive phase in its war against corruption.
  • PM Modi also said nepotism and Misogyny were some of the other big challenges that needed to be combated.
  • PM Modi was addressing the nation from the ramparts of the red fort for the ninth consecutive year.
  • PM Modi also said the dynasty has done the most injustice to the country’s strength. Dynastic politics is aimed at a family’s welfare and has no interest in the country’s welfare.

# Srilanka

  • India on Monday handed over a Dornier aircraft to srilanka in the presence of Ranil Wickramasinghe, reaffirming its security ties with the Island nation.
  • Vice admiral SN Ghormade and high commissioner of India to Srilanka, Gopal Bagley were in attendance at the handing over event held on Monday.
  • The Indian gift was in response to a request from the Srilankan government in 2018 for two Dornier reconnaissance aircraft to enhance the maritime surveillance capacity of the Island nation.

# Oil prices

  • Oil prices dropped for a second session as weak China economic data triggered concerns about demand at the world’s largest crude oil importer.
  • Meanwhile, world’s top exporter Saudi Aramco said it was ready to ramp up output.
  • China’s economy unexpectedly slowed in July, while refinery output tumbled to 12.53 million barrel per day, lowest since march 2020.

# Ola

  • Ola electric said its first electric car, with a range of 500 km per charge and an acceleration capacity of 0-100 km in four seconds would be rolled out on Indian roads in 2024.
  • Between 2024 and 2026, the company would make six different cars based on two platforms at the Ola future factory in krishnagiri, Tamil nadu.
  • This factory will have the capacity to produce one million electric cars.
