The income tax department on Tuesday carried out survey operations at the offices of BBC in New Delhi and Mumbai.
IT department officials landed at BBC’s office at Delhi’s Kasturba Gandhi marg and and Santa Cruz in Mumbai shortly before noon to carry out the surveys.
Surveys could be linked to TDS (Tax deduction at source), foreign taxation and several others.
A survey under IT rules involves inspection of a business premises.
# Air India
The Tata group owned Air India on Tuesday placed the largest ever aircraft order in global aviation history with letters of intent signed for purchase of 470 aircraft.
The order comprises 40 Airbus A350s, 20 Boeing 787s and 10 Boeing 777 9s widebody aircraft, which will be deployed on long haul international routes.
Prior to this, the largest aircraft single order placed was in 2011 by AMR corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, which has ordered a mix of 460 narrow body from Boeing and Airbus.
The mega deal underlined the ambition of Air India under its new owner Tata to regain the pre Eminent status.

# Wholesale inflation
Wholesale price inflation eased to a near two year low in January as prices of some food items, manufactured products and fuel prices softened in contrast to retail inflation.
Data released by the commerce and industry ministry on Tuesday showed inflation as measured by the wholesale price index, rose an annual 4.7% annually in January.
