# Uttarakhand and Goa

• Peaceful voting with proper covid protocols was held in 165 assembly constituencies of Goa, Uttarakhand and uttar pradesh, the Election commission of India said on Monday.
• Voter turnout in the 55 assembly constituencies of the second phase of the UP poll was 60.44℅.
• The single phase polling for the 40 seat assembly saw a voter turnout of 80℅.
• In Uttarakhand, turnout for the 70 seat assembly election was 62.5℅.

# Inflation

• India’s retail inflation accelerated past the 6℅ mark in January to hit 6.01℅.
• The retail inflation has breached the central bank’s tolerance level for consumer price inflation for the first time since June 2021.
• Retail inflation was 5.66℅ in December 2021.
• Rural India bore the brunt of the inflation spike as per official data, with the pace of price rise touching 6.12℅ from 5.36℅ in December.
• Inflation in Urban India was virtually unchanged at 5.91℅ in January from 5.9℅ a month earlier.

# ISRO

• On Monday, Earth observation satellite EOS – 04 and two small satellites INSPIREsat-1 and INS-2TD.
• These satellites were placed into orbit by the PSLV-C52 rocket.
• Primary satellite EOS-04 was put into the intended sun synchronous polar orbit of 529 KM orbit.

# Sensex

• Equity markets in India witnessed massive selling pressure on Monday, sliding 3℅ amid rising fear of Russia invading Ukraine.
• The rupee fell 24 paise to a nine week low of 75.60 against the dollar on Monday.
• The WTI crude oil touched $94.55 on Monday.

# Vedanta, Foxconn

• Vedanta group and Hon Hai Technology group ( Foxconn), have signed an MOU to form a joint venture to manufacture semiconductors in India.
• Vedanta will hold majority stocks in the Joint venture.
