# Vaccination drive

 

 

  • The weekly pace of vaccination has declined to nearly 60% of what was seen in the week after june 21.
  • In order to meet the centre’s commitment to fully vaccinate all adults by the year end, atleast 80 lakh doses have to be administered every day.
  • Currently the daily average of vaccination is less than 35 lakhs per day.

 

 

 

# Cabinet committees

 

 

  •  After a largescale rejig of his council of ministers, prime minister Narendra modi effected some changes in cabinet committees to reflect the changes with the inclusion of new ministers in the cabinet.
  • Women and child development minister Smriti irani , rural development minister Giriraj singh, labour minister Bhupendra yadav, Health minister Mansukh mandaviya and shipping minister Sarbananda sonowal have been included in all the important cabinet committee on political affairs.
  • Cabinet committee on security and appointments have been left untouched.

 

 

 

# Sputnik V

 

 

  • The serum institute of India (SII) will be producing atleast 300 million doses of sputnik V a year.
  • The Russia’s sovereign wealth fund RDIF also said that the first batch of Russian vaccine is likely to be rolled out in September.

 

 

 

# Assam cattle protection bill

 

 

  • Prior to tabling the Assam cattle preservation bill, 2021 in the 126 member assembly on july 12 CM Himanta biswa sharma said its primary objective was to check the smuggling of cows to bangladesh.
  • It also seeks to restrict the sale of beef in areas dominated by non beef consuming communities and within a 5 KM radius of temples and satras.
  • The bill seeks to replace the Assam cattle preservation act, 1950, which allows the slaughter of cattle above 14 years of age.

 

 

 

# India-China trade

 

 

  • India’s trade with China in the first half of 2021 rose by a record 62.7%.
  • Two way trade after six months was $57.48 billion, the highest on record for the first half.
