# Biparjoy

  • Lakhs of people in Coastal Saurashtra and Kutch were staring at a grim week ahead as cyclone Biparjoy Barrelled towards Gujarat, packing devastating winds and downpours, with landfall expected near the fishing port of Jakhau on June 15.
  • Over 12000 people have been identified for evacuation in Kutch and Dwarka.
  • These two districts are expected to bear the maximum brunt of the storm.

# CARE India

  • The home ministry has suspended the foreign funding license of CARE India over alleged violations of the Foreign contributions regulation act, 2010.
  • The NGO is part of CARE international Confederation and has been working in India for the past 70 years with declared objectives like ending poverty and social exclusion.
  • Government sources said that the notice have been served on the NGO suspending its FCRA registration – last renewed with effect from October 1,2022, for a period of five years – for 180 days.
  • CARE India which works with partners like Bill and melinda Gates Foundation and US aid confirmed receipt of the suspension notice.

# SIPRI

  • China continues to rapidly expand its nuclear weapons arsenal as does Pakistan albeit slowly.
  • China now had 410 nuclear warheads, up from 350 in January 2022, while Pakistan has 170 and India 164, as per the latest assessment of the Stockholm Internet Peace Research Institute released on Monday.
  • Pentagon’s latest report on China’s Military capabilities has also warned that the country will field a stockpile of about 1500 warheads by 2035.

# Retail Inflation

  • Retail inflation eased to a 25 month low in may on the back of a favourable base effect.
  • Inflation as measured by Consumer Price Index rose an annual 4.3% in May.
