# Nepal’s politics

 

 

  • Nepal’s supreme court on monday reinstated the house of representatives for the second time in five months.
  • Supreme court also directed president Bidya devi bhandari to appoint nepali congress chief Sher Bahadur deuba as prime minister by tuesday.
  • A five member constitutional bench of the supreme court issued the verdict stating that president Bhandari’s decision to dissolve the lower house upon a recommendations of PM KP sharma oli was an unconstitutional act.
  • Newly appointed Prime minister has to prove its majority in the house of representatives in next 30 days.

 

 

 

# Inflation

 

 

  • Retail inflation remained virtually unchanged in june at about 6.3%.
  • This rate of inflation is out of Reserve bank of India’s comfort zone of 2% to 6% for the second month in a row.
  • With petroleum product prices continuing to soar, fuel and light inflation hit 12.7% in june from 11.9% in may.

 

 

 

# Zydus cadilla vaccine

 

 

  • The green signal for the emergency use approval of Zycov-D, the covid-19 vaccine by Zydus cadilla for those aged 12 and above, will take a few more days.
  • The vaccine had shown good results in the phase-1 and phase-2 trials, and the data for the phase 3 trials, conducted in more than 28000 volunteers, were being examined by the subject expert committee.
  • NITI aayog member VK Paul said that Vaccine’s supply will begin in August-September.

 

 

 

# S. jaishankar

 

 

  • External affairs minister S. jaishankar is on an important visit to central asian countries.
  • He will first attend the Shanghai cooperation organisation (SCO) ministerial meeting in Dushanbe on july 13 and 14.
  • He will travel to Tashkent for a regional connectivity conference on july 15 and 16.

 

 

 

# Monsoon session of parliament

 

 

  • Both houses of parliament – the lok sabha and Rajya sabha will be held simultaneously, ending the two shift routine followed since september last year.
  • The monsoon session of parliament is scheduled to begin on july 19.
