# India-China

  • Several Indian and Chinese soldiers were injured in a major clash in the crucial tawang sector of Arunachal pradesh last week.
  • The extended physical clash between the rival soldiers took place at Yangtse on December 9 morning after 300-400 soldiers from the people’s liberation Army intruded across the line of actual control.
  • Troops from both sides sustained fractured limbs and other injuries.
  • Indian commander in the area held a flag meeting with the PLA counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with the structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquility.

# Ministry of education

  • Atleast 40% of the questions in CBSE class 10 exams and 30% in class 12 exams in 2023 will be competency based, the ministry of education told the Lok sabha.
  • These questions will comprise multiple formats such as objective type, constructing response type, assertion and reasoning and case based.
  • Theory examinations for class 10 and class 12 for the academic year will begin from 15 february, 2023.

# Higher education

  • Over 50% of the senior faculty positions in reserved category in centrally funded higher education institutions are vacant.
  • The data shared by the education ministry to Lok sabha on Monday showed that in Central universities, 75.2% of the sanctioned SC posts, 87.4% of the ST positions and 84.7% of the OBC posts for the position of professor are lying vacant.
  • While the government has not given category wise break ups for the IITs, the total percentage of vacancy status as on December 1, 2022 is 40.3% in the technology Institutes.

# Retail inflation

  • Retail inflation slowed to an 11 month low in November on the back of moderating food prices and a favourable base effect.
  • Data released by national statistical office on Monday showed retail inflation as measured by the consumer price index rose an annual 5.9% in November.
