“Salaam aarti” will become “Sandhya aarti” in all karnataka temples with the states highest body overseeing Hindu shrine on Sunday approving a six months old proposal.
The proposal was to rename the persian sounding tradition harking back to Tipu sultan’s reign with Sanskrit terms.
A member of the hindu body said that these names were imposed on Hindu temples during Tipu’s reign.
The final order will be issued after after the approval of the Karnataka Chief Minister.
# Road accidents
More than 3.3 lakh lives were lost in road crashes in the past five years, the road transport ministry has informed the parliament.
Transport minister Nitin gadakri told the Lok sabha that the number of road deaths in 2021 was nearly 1.5 lakh.
Official data also show this was the maximum number of road deaths in any year since the government started compiling such fatalities across states and Union territories.
Quoting analysis of the data based on the FIRs lodged by the state Police departments, the ministry cited speeding, using mobile phone while driving, influence of alcohol, jumping traffic lights and not wearing helmets and seat belts.
# Urea
The average cost of imported urea increased 2.5 times in 2021-22 compared to last year.
The overall value of imported urea also increased by 2.3 times during the last financial year.
The overall production of urea in the country increased to 259.7 lakh tonnes during 2021-22 compared to previous financial year.
