# Sukma encounter

• Five security personnel were martyred and more than 12 injured in an encounter with maoists in sukma district of chattisgarh on saturday.

• Two of the martyrs were from the CRPF.

• Among the 2 maoists killed one is a woman.

# Covid cases

• India reported 92,994 new covid-19 cases, 514 deaths and 60,059 recoveries on saturday.

• Maharashtra, karnataka, Delhi, Tamil nadu, Punjab, Uttar pradesh and Madhya pradesh have witnessed a steep rise in cases with more than 80% of the new cases on saturday reported from these seven states.

• Maharashtra recorded 49,440 new cases, followed by chattisgarh (5818) and Karnataka (4373).

# Delhi-meerut RRTS

• The work on the Regional rapid transit system connecting Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut has begun on the ground at sarai kale khan.

• The 82 KM long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is the first project of its kind to utilize spherical bearing to enable high speeds.

• A bridge will also be constructed on yamuna almost parallel to the existing DND bridge.

# Biden lifts sanctions
