# Vaccination drive

 

 

  • The cummulative number of covid-19 doses administered in the country crossed 1.54 crores till 7 PM on tuesday.
  • Indian council of medical research director general Balram bhargava said both the vaccines available in India were safe for use by people on blood thinners.
  • ICMR head also said that it is against the medical protocol to administer vaccine doses at someone’s residence.

 

 

 

# Srilanka port project

 

 

  • Srilanka on tuesday said it will develop the west container terminal at the colombo port, along with India and Japan.
  • Prior to this announcement, a month ago srilanka had backed out of a 2019 tripartite between India-japan-srilanka to jointly develop the East container terminal.
  • The srilankan government claimed that local stakeholders in colombo port is resisting to foreign involvement.

 

 

 

# Spectrum auction

 

 

  • The telecom spectrum auctions concluded on tuesday after bidding for a day and half with the Indian government garnering 77,814.8 crore in revenues.
  • The amount exceeded the expectations of the government as well as analysts.
  • The mukesh ambani led reliance jio was the biggest bidder, acquiring 488.35 MHZ of spectrum for 57,122.6 crore, followed by Bharti airtel which bid for 355.45 MHZ spectrum for 18,698.75 crore.

 

 

 

# Sansad TV

 

 

  • After nearly two years of work, the merger of the LSTV and the RSTV has been finalised and will be replaced by Sansad TV.
  • In november 2019, after deliberations between loksabha speaker OM birla and RS chairman venkaiah naidu, a committee headed by former prasar bharti chairman surya prakash was set up.
  • The merged platform will be called sansad tv.

 

 

 

# Plastic units

 

 

  • About 50,000 units in the plastics processing sector are beleived to be operating below 50% of their rated capacity due to the sharp rise in raw material prices.
  • Head of all India plastic industry associations said that if the crisis prolongs, about 20,000 MSMEs plastic units would be forced to close down.
