# Notice to farm leaders

• The Delhi police on thursday issued notices to 40 farmers leaders for violating the terms and conditions agreed upon for holding tractor rallies on republic day.

• The police special cell also registered a case under UAPA and sedition in connection with violence during the tractor parades.

• The protesting farmers are facing opposition from local villagers at the protest site to vacate the blocked highways.

# President’s address

• As many as 18 opposition parties led by the congress on thursday announced their decisions to boycott president Ram nath kovind’s address to the joint sitting of the parliament.

• Following the announcement, parliamentary affairs minister Prahlad Joshi appealed to the opposition to desist from their proposed boycott.

# FIR for false news

• The Gautam Buddha nagar police lodged an FIR on thursday against congress MP Shashi Tharoor and senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai and many others for incitement of violence on January 26 through their social media posts.

• Rajdeep Sardesai had falsely claimed in his tweet that Delhi police had shot dead a protestor during tractor rally.

# “Veda nilayam”

• Tamil nadu chief minister K. palaniswami on thursday inaugurated the memorial established by the government at former chief minister jayalalitha’s residence “Veda nilayam”.

• He also unveiled a life size bronze statue of Jayalalitha on the campus of the Tamil nadu state council for higher education.

# Sugar for ethanol

• Major sugar producing states like – UP, Maharashtra and Karnataka are expected to see mills diverting a higher quantity of the commodity for ethanol production for this season.

• A press release from the Indian sugar mills association said that the sugar mills in UP are estimated to divest 6.74 lakh tonnes of sugar by way of  B heavy mollases and sugarcane juice for ethanol production.
