# Electoral bonds

 

 

  • The supreme on friday refused to stay the sale of electoral bonds prior to the assembly elections in crucial states such as West bengal and Tamil nadu.
  • The chief justice of India said that the scheme began in 2018 and continued in 2019 and 2020 without any impediments.
  • The judgement came on an urgent application moved by an NGO, Association of democratic reforms represented by advocate Prashant bhushan.

 

 

 

# PM Modi in Bangladesh

  • PM Modi addressed a rally in Dhaka on the occassion of 50th anniversary of liberation war of 1971.
  • PM Modi is on the first visit to any country after the arrival of covid-19 in last 15 months.
  • Four supporters of hardline islamist groups were shot dead in Bangladesh on friday in violent demonstrations over PM Modi’s tour of Dhaka.

 

 

 

# Suez canal blocked

  • With $200 billion of India’s trade flows with europe, North america and south america at risk due to the blockage of the suez canal.
  • Indian government is planning to reroute the shipment through the cape of good hope.
  • More than 200 vessels are waiting on the North and South sides of the suez canal.

 

 

 

# Right to information

 

 

  • According to a recent report published, only 4.3% of all RTI requests in 2019-20 were rejected.
  • It is the lowest ever rate according to central information commission’s annual report.
  • Of all ministeries, home ministry rejected the most RTIs requests, i.e 20%.

 

 

 

# Concurrent list

  • Health should be shifted to the concurrent list under the constitution.
  • This has been recommended by chairman of the fifteenth finance commission.
  • He also recommended that a DFI dedicated for health sector should be created.
