# Farmers protest

 

  • Police stop farmer’s march to Delhi at Haryana & Uttar pradesh borders.
  • The alliance of farmers group demanding the repeal of the recently passed agriculture related law has called for an indefinite siege of the laws.
  • Hundreds of farmers were blocked from crossing haryana punjab borders while some leaders were detained.
  • The rashtriya kisan mahasangh, the all India kishan sangharsh coordination committee and various factions of the Bhartiya kisan union are leading the protest under the Samyukta kisan morcha (SKM) banner.

 

 

# Coronavirus vaccination

 

  • About 30 crore people will be part of the first “wave” to get the Covid-19 vaccine in India.
  • This first wave consists of health care workers, police personnel, those above 50 and those younger with underlying illnesses that make them vulnerable.

# Environment vs Development

 

  • The union health ministry’s plan to construct a 100 bed hospital in Najafgarh is in limbo, as the permission for cutting trees for the project has been pending with the Delhi environment minister’s office for almost 2 years.
  • It is not the only project that is pending. Permission to cut trees for several projects of the central and state government are pending with the environment minister for duration ranging from 60 days to almost two years.
  • The projects include two waste water treatment plants (WWTP) to clean the yamuna river, flyover and railway over bridge by the central government, besides work related in the Regional rapid transit system (RRTS).

 

 

# AP high court vs AP government

  • The Andhra pradesh high court has virtually taken over the executive functions of the state – the Andhra pradesh government said supreme court on 26 november.
  • The state government said Andhra high court is interfering in matters like construction of guest houses and other executive matters as well.
  • The AP state government petition referred to a 2008 judgement of the supreme court which said” in the name of judicial activity, judges cannot cross their limits and try to take over functions which belong to another organ of the state.

 

 

# Ajit Doval colombo visit

 

  • National security advisor(NSA) Ajit Doval is visiting colombo on friday for trilateral discussions among India, srilanka and maldives.
  • The Maldivian defence minister Mariya Ahmad Didi also travel to colombo. The srilankan side will be represented at the highest levels by president Gotabaya rajapaksha and PM Mahindra rajapaksha.
  • This scheduled meeting of the Indian ocean neighbours marks the resumption of the NSA level trilateral maritime security cooperation talks after six years.

  • 27 november 1001 – Sultan Mehmud of Ghazni began his first real expedition to India by defeating the hindu king Jaipal. He won afghanistan and punjab in peshawar battle. This was the first major muslim conquest in India.
  • 27 november 1907 – Harivanshrai Bachchan, famous hindi writer and poet, was born at Allahabad.
  • 27 november 1992 – Sachin Tendulkar, 19 years and 22 days old, becomes the youngest cricketer to make 1000 test runs while playing in Johannesburg.
