A parliamentary panel has recommended putting athletes, coaches, and support staff going to the 2021 Tokyo olympics in the priority group for covid-19 vaccination.
The standing committee on education, women, children, youth and sports headed by BJP MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, submitted its report on “preparation of olympic 2021” to Rajya sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday.

Britain clinched a brexit trade deal with the European union on thursday.
This is a virtual Free trade agreement with zero tarrifs and no quotas.
Britain formally left the European union in january after a deeply divisive referendum in 2016.
Britain became the first country to split from the political and economic project that was born as the continent rebuilt in the aftermath of second world war.
London remains bound by the European union’s rules during a transition period that runs untill midnight. On December 31, when the UK will leave the bloc’s single market and custom union.
# Vodafone case verdict
India has challenged in a singapore court – the international arbitration tribunal verdict that overturned its demand for 22,000 crore rupees in back taxes from vodafone group plc.
An international arbitration court had on september 25 rejected tax authorities demand for 22,100 crore rupees in back taxes and penalties relating to the British telecom giant’s 2007 acquisition of an Indian operator.
India had 90 days to file an appeal.
# Kerela assembly session
The kerela cabinet has once again decided to seek governor Arif Muhammad Khan’s consent to convoke an emergency session of the assembly on December 31 to discuss the fallout of the farmer’s agitation in rice-bowl states in north India.
The Kerela government feared that the ongoing farmer’s agitation could adversely impact the state’s food security.
Kerela CM Pinarayi Vijayan said governor had no discretionary powers in the matter. He was legally bound to give his approval once a majority government decided to convene the assembly.
In the past, the governor has maintained that the assembly had no mandate to evaluate the constitutional validity of the acts of parliament.
# Visva – bharti university
PM Modi participated in Viswa bharti’s centenary celebrations via video conferencing.
He said the institution had been a venerable source of energy for the country for past 100 years.
The university was set up by nobel laureate Rabindra nath tagore in 1921 at Bolpur in West bengal’s Birbhum district.
