Post graduate students in ayurveda will now be trained and allowed to perform a variety of general surgery, like ENT, Ophthalmology and dental procedures.
This decision comes after the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) amended the Indian Medicine Central Council (post graduate ayurveda education Regulations,2016 to include the regulation to allow PG students of ayurveda to practice general surgery.
# Stubble burningĀ # slash and burn
The Delhi government in collabaration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Pusa, has created a “pusa” decomposer. It quickens the decomposition of stubble in the field.
This solution contains jaggery, chickpea flour and a set of about eight types of microorganisms (fungi), essential to quicken the decomposition of the stubble or crop residue.
This is very helpful in containing the problem of stubble burning, which is a major source of pollution in Delhi, especially in winter.
# Parliamentary panel on health
Parliamentary panel on health, headed by samajwadi party Member of parliament Ramgopal Yadav advised the government to formulate effective laws to counter bio terrorism. Although, the report did not explicitly state that the Covid-19 virus was a bio weapon.
Recommendations include strengthening disease surveillance including at animal human interface, training and capacity building for management of public health emergencies arising from use of bio weapons and strengthening research and surveillance activities related to development of diagonostics, vaccines and drugs.

# Punjab rail blockade
Members of 30 farmers’ outfits in Punjab on saturday decided to lift the rail blockade on november 23, after nearly 2 months of their protest against the centre’s new agriculture laws.
This relaxation on rail blockade is for 15 days from november 24. The farmers’ outfits said the talks will be continued with centre and if the demands are not met in 15 days, the ‘rail roko agitation’ will resume again.
# India’s oil refining capacity
Indian government plans to almost double its oil refining capacity in the next five years. The country’s energy ministry has halved its timeline, which earlier said, it would take 10 years to double oil refining capacities.
India’s current oil refining capacity is 250 million tonnes which will double to 450-500 million tonnes.
Other renewable energy targets of the government are: Increasing renewable energy capacity to 175 gigawatt by 2022 and 450 gigawatt by 2030, both are ahead of schedule.
India’s current renewable energy capacity is about 75 gigawatt at the end of 2018.
# United nation’s population award
Bhutan’s queen mother “Gyalyum sangay chodan wangchuk” got UN population award for her work on sexual health and ending gender violence.
The award in the organisational category is given to HelpAge India that works on gender care.
Only two Indians have been awarded in the past four decades since the award was established in 1981: former prime minister India Gandhi in 1981 and industrialist-philanthropist JRD Tata in 1992.
