# Vaccine maitri

 

 

  • Union health minister Harsh vardhan told the Rajya sabha on tuesday that covid-19 vaccines were not being sent to foreign countries at the expense of Indian citizens.
  • On monday alone 30 lakh people were administered the vaccine and till now more than 3 crore people had been inoculated.
  • However, a parliamentary standing committee on home affairs has observed that the vaccination process is too low.

 

 

 

# Reservation

 

 

  • Older IIMs have performed badly in filling reserved seats of faculties.
  • One of the worst performers is IIM kolkata were only 3% of reserved seats were filled. Also, IIM Nagpur has no faculty from reserved category.
  • Some of the newer IIMs liked IIM shilong, IIM jammu, and IIM raipur has 31%, 23%, and 25% of reserved seats filled.

 

 

 

# National capital territory law

 

 

  • The expression “government” referred to in any law to be made by the legislative assembly shall mean the lieutanant governor.
  • All executive action of the LG whether taken on advice of his minister or otherwise shall be taken in the name of the LG.
  • The assembly shall not make any rule to enable itself or its committees to consider the matters of day to day administration of the capital.

 

 

 

# Air pollution

 

 

  • Delhi remained the most polluted capital of the world.
  • Out of top 15 cities, 13 cities are from India.
  • However, the average annual PM 2.5 levels in 2020 was lower than in 2019.

 

 

 

# Medical termination of pregnancy

 

 

  • The rajya sabha on tuesday passed the medical termination of pregnancy (amendment) bill 2020.
  • It increase the time period within which an abortion may be carried out.
  • The pregnant woman need a nod from a medical board for abortion in the case of pregnancies beyond 24 weeks is one of the new rules in the act.
