# Covid-19 vaccine

 

 

  • Russia’s covid-19 vaccine sputnik v has been recommended for emergency use authorisation in India following a meeting of the subject expert committee on monday.
  • If approved by the drug controller general of India (DCGI), sputnik v would be the third vaccine to be made available in India.
  • The lancet study had reported a efficacy of 91.6% for the sputnik- v vaccine.

 

 

 

# Sensex and rupee

 

 

  • The bombay stock exchange sensex tanked 1708 points or 3.44% driven by the fear of fresh pandemic effect.
  • Also, the value of rupee crossed the 75 mark against the dollar on monday.
  • As per official data inflations surged and the industrial output has collapsed sharply.

 

 

 

# ICSSR

 

 

  • Indian council of social sciences and research has published a report on the discrimination faced by persons of north-east.
  • The cause of the discrimination has been admitted by 78% of persons, who were interviewed as the ” resemblance of appearance to the chinese”.
  • The study was conducted by centre for criminology and victimology at the national law university, Delhi.

 

 

 

# Military exercise

 

 

  • Multinational military exercise shantir ogrosena underway in Bangladesh for the past 10 days concluded on monday.
  •  Army chief general manoj naravane, who is on a visit to the neighbouring country, witnessed the validation phase of the exercise.
  • The armies participating in the exercise were the Indian army, Royal bhutanese army, srilankan army and  bangladesh army.

 

 

 

# China-srilanka relations

 

 

  • China on monday signed a $150 million loan agreement with srilanka.
  • Srilanka hopes to boost its foreign reserves that are under severe strain since the pandemic last year.
  • This is the second installment of $ 1 billion loan sought by srilanka last year.
  • Also, Beijing based Asian infrastructure investment bank also sanctioned srilanka’s request for a $ 150 million loan in february.
