# Make in India

• The defence ministry has approved another list that progressively bans import of 928 sub systems, components, spares and line replacement units of military equipment and platforms by defence PSUs to promote self reliance.
• The new positive indigenisation list for the defence PSUs is in continuation of the first three such lists, which contained a total of 1238 items, announced in December 2021, March 2022, August 2022.
• The 928 items in the fourth list, without import substitution value of ₹715 crore, will be procured from the Indian industry after the timelines indicated in the list that range between December 2024 and December 2028.
• Of the 1238 earlier items, 310 have been indigenised so far.

# Economic offenders

• Government will soon come out with a unique code for each individual or company accused of economic offence.
• The identification number will be called unique economic offender code that will be specific to each offender and will be linked with his/her aadhaar number or pan number in case of company.
• The central economic intelligence bureau under the finance ministry has created a database of about 2.5 lakh economic offenders.

# SBI card

• SBI card, the country’s second largest card issuer will soon integrate its Rupay credit card with the unified payment interface system.
• The move is expected to be disruptive as SBI card is the largest Rupay card issuer in the country, nearly 11% of its portfolio comprises Rupay cards.

# Afghanistan

• In a first, the Taliban have appointed a charge de affairs to head the Afghanistan embassy in India.
• The chief of Taliban’s political office in doha and ambassador designate to the UN Suhail saheen has confirmed this.
