# UK

  • The latest UK home office statistics show that the numbers of Indians crossing the English channel on small boat has shot up in the first three months of the year.
  • Indians are now the second biggest cohort after Afghan to enter illegally in United Kingdom.
  • Majority of Indians entering the United Kingdom illegally via boats were from Punjab, apparently attracted by job opportunities in Britain.
  • Between January 1 and March 31,2023 a total of 3793 people arrived via small boats of which the most common nationality was afghans (909 or 24%) followed by Indians (675, 18%).

# Forex reserve

  • The country’s foreign exchange reserves rose to a 10 month high of $588.8 billion for the week ended April 28.
  • There is an increase of $4.5 billion from the previous week.
  • In October 2021, foreign exchange reserves had touched an all time high of $645 billion.
  • In the same week, rupee is trading in the range of ₹81.61 to 82.1.

# Jammu

  • Five army commandos were killed and a army major was wounded on Friday in an explosion triggered by terrorists in the gunfight.
  • The people’s anti fascist front an offshoot of the Pakistan backed terrorist outfit Jaish e mohammad claimed the attack.
  • Mobile internet services have been suspended in Rajouri for the security measure.

  • Prime minister Narendra modi will be the guest of honour at France’s national day celebration on July 14.
  • France’s national day is also called as Bastille day on which the French people celebrate the values of liberty, equality and fraternity.
