# BBC

  • Invoking emergency powers under the new IT rules, the government has ordered the blocking of multiple YouTube videos and nearly 50 tweets sharing the first episode of BBC documentary ‘India – The Modi Question”.
  • The decision was taken on the grounds that various ministeries found it an attempt to “cast aspersions” on the authority of the Supreme Court and make “unsubstantiated allegations” about the actions of foreign governments in India.
  • Sources said senior officials of various ministries, including external affairs, home and information and broadcasting, examined the film.

# United Kingdom

  • UK international trade secretary Kemi Badenoch, who is at the helm of negotiating the UK-India free trade deal, said that UK has no plans to offer more student visas or other specific visas to India as part of the UK-India free trade deal.
  • She told that she is prepared to make concessions on the issues like business mobility, but will not give Indians the kind of trade deal the UK has with Australia.
  • UK allows an unlimited number of under 35s in Australia to live and work in the UK for three years and vice versa.

# Pakistan

  • Shipping agents have warned the cash strapped Pakistan government that all exports could come to a halt as foreign shipping lines are considering stopping their services for the country after banks stopped remitting freight charges to them due to a lack of dollar availability, according to media reports.
  • Thousands of shipping containers are held up at the Karachi seaport due to non payment due to scarcity of dollars.

# Assam

  • India has nominated Charaideo’s royal burial mounds or tumulus called “moidam” Of the Ahom dynasty that ruled Assam for six centuries from 1228 to 1826 for consideration as the UNESCO world Heritage Site.
  • It is also known as pyramid of Assam, and are similar to the Royal tombs of ancient China and Egyptian pyramids.
