Delhi has earned the dubious tag of being India’s most populated city, rising from rank 3 in 2019 and rank 2 last year in the list of most polluted cities.
The data has been released by the National clean air programme (NCAP) tracker based on annual PM 2.5 levels measured by the central pollution Control board.
While Delhi’s annual PM 2.5 levels improved by 7.4 percent since 2019, from 108 microgram per cubic metre to 99.7, Ghaziabad and Noida, the two cities above the capital in the 2019 list, recorded sharper improvements of 22.2% and 29.8%, respectively.
The centre launched NCAP in 2019, setting a target of reducing key air pollutants PM10 and PM 2.5 by 20-30% by 2024 in 131 non attainment cities.
Non attainment cities are those that did not meet the national air quality standards.
# Defense ministry
The defense ministry on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to three indigenous capital acquisition proposals, involving Helina anti tank guided missiles to arm advanced light helicopters worth ₹4276 crore.
The Rajnath singh led defense acquisition council also accorded Acceptance of necessity for procurement of Infra red homing VSHORADS ie very short range air defense systems missiles under design and development by DRDO at a cost of ₹1920 crores.
The nod was also given for the procurement of the launchers and fire control systems for the Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles for the shivalik class of stealth frigates.

Tata group is close to taking over a major plant in Bengaluru in a deal that would give the country its first homegrown iphone maker.
The airlines to software conglomerate has been in talks with the factory’s owner, Taiwan’s Wistron.
The Tata is set to oversee the main manufacturing operations, with support from Wistron.
