# Harappan site

  • Excavations at one of the biggest necropolises of the Harappan era in Gujarat have shown what history has repeatedly demonstrated around the world – ancient humans buried the death with afterlife items like personal artefacts, sacred animals and pots of food and water.
  • The digging began in 2019 at Juna Khatiya village in Kutch district and archaeologists found rows of graves with Skeletal remains, ceramic pots, plates and vases, beaded jewellery and animal bones that piqued their interest.
  • These are from 3200 BCE to 2600 BCE, predating Dholavira – a UNESCO world Heritage Site – and several other harappan sites in the state.

# ILO

  • Average hours of work per week was the highest in Asia and the Pacific in 2019, particularly in South and East Asia.
  • Average hours of work per week was the shortest in North America and Europe and Central Asia, particularly in Northern, southern and Western Europe.
  • The data has been published in a latest report of the International labour organization.
  • Globally, the sectors that had the longest weekly work in 2019, were wholesale and retail trade (49.1 hours), transport and communication ( 48.2 hours) and manufacturing (47.6 hours).

# Russia-Ukraine

  • Ukrainians and Russians on Saturday marked Orthodox Christmas under the shadow of war, as infighting persisted despite Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin Unilaterally ordering his forces to pause attacks.
  • Despite Putin’s ceasefire orders war scared cities in Eastern Ukraine saw no significant let up in fighting.

# United States

  • In the recently rolled out ‘fall agenda’ various immigration agencies of the US government has reiterated their intention to move ahead with the rule to raise the prevailing wage rates for H1-B visa and green card holders.
  • The new draft proposal on a new prevailing wage regulation is scheduled to be published in September.
