Paving the way for foreign universities to set up campuses in India, the university grants commission on Thursday released draft regulations for stakeholder’s feedback.
Under this regulation universities will have autonomy to decide on the admission process, fee structure and appointments.
Foreign universities through their Indian campuses, can only offer full time programmes in offline mode while cross border movement of funds and their foreign currency accounts should be in compliance of the Foreign Exchange management act, 1999.
The final regulations, after incorporating the recommendations and suggestions, is expected to be ready by January end.

Acting on demands of the Jain community from across the country, the centre on Thursday modified the eco sensitive zone notification on Parasnath Sanctuary and stayed eco tourism and all other objectionable activities around Parasnath hills.
Parasnath hill comprises the Sanctum Sanctorum of Jain tourism in Giridih district of jharkhand with immediate effect.
Sammed shikharji parvat (Parasnath hill) is world’s most sacred and revered teerth sthan of Jain Dharma.
# Ola
In perhaps the biggest deal for a factory in the Indian automobile industry, the Tamil Nadu government is understood to have approved a proposal by Bhavish agarwal’s Ola for acquiring around 1500 acres in the state.
It will house the company’s electric vehicles manufacturing facility, a component supplier ecosystem and a battery cell manufacturing plant.

Britain had its warmest year on record in 2022, official figures showed.
The Met office weather agency said the provisional annual average temperature in the UK was 10.3 degree celsius, the highest since comparable records began in 1884.
The previous record was 9.88 degree celsius set in 2014.
