# Nepal

  • CPN Maoist centre chairman Pushpa kamal dahal prachanda was appointment Nepal’s new prime Minister on Sunday.
  • The former guerrilla leader dramatically broke away from the five party ruling alliance led by Nepali congress and secured the support of ex opponent KP Sharma Oli and other smaller parties.
  • The Surprise development may not bode well for India as Prachanda and Oli have had some run ins with New Delhi over territorial issues.
  • PM Modi congratulated Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Sunday.

# United States

  • Romance related frauds and tech support pop-ups largely from illegal call centres and Phishing gangs in India, have caused losses of more than $3 billion to US citizens in the last two years alone.
  • Total money lost by Americans in all internet/call centre related frauds has been estimated at $10.2 billion in last two years.
  • Romance related frauds show estimated loss of Rs 16000 in last two years, informed Suhel Daud, FBI’s South Asia head.

  • Tata group has renamed Air Asia India as AIX connect, ahead of the low cost carrier’s merger with Air India express.
  • The salt to satellite conglomerate is now the 100% owner of erstwhile Air Asia India as it recently bought out Malaysian Air Asia aviation group’s remaining 16.3% in this JV that had started flying in 2014.
  • Tatas are consolidating their four airlines – full service Vistara into Air India and LCC Air Asia India into AI express.

# Afghanistan

  • Four international aid agencies including save the Children said on Sunday they were suspending their humanitarian programmes in Afghanistan in response to the Taliban run administration’s order to stop female employees from working.
  • The suspension of some aid programmes that millions of afghans access comes at a time when more than half of the population relies on humanitarian aid.
