# G20 Summit

  • Ahead of his arrival in Bali for the G20 Summit, PM Narendra Modi on Monday said he will discuss with other G20 leaders key issues of Global concern, such as reviving global growth, food and energy security, environment, health and digital transformation.
  • PM Modi landed in Bali late Monday evening for the Summit that will also see him having bilateral engagements with many leaders on the margins.
  • Modi is likely to hold meetings with US President Joe Biden, French President Emanuel macron and Australian President A. Albanese.

# Global population

  • The world’s population will cross 8 billion today.
  • World’s population doubled in 48 years from the time it hit the 4 billion mark in 1974.
  • In 1974, the median age of the global population was 20.6 years, meaning half of the world was younger than 22.2 years.
  • The current global median age is 30.5 years.

# Inflation

  • Retail inflation eased below 7% in October led by moderating food prices and a favourable base effect.
  • Wholesale price inflation dipped to single digits (8.4%) after 18 months.
  • At 6.8%, the consumer price inflation was at a three months low, down from 7.4% in September.

  • Markets regulator SEBI has approved Adani group’s open offer to buy an additional 26% stake in media firm New Delhi television network.
  • The offer will commence on November 2022 and close on December 5.
