India on Saturday took a mega generational leap in mobile telephony as the ball was set rolling for the launch of 5G network.
Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the services promising a leg up in economic activities and citizen empowerment through the high speed network that boasts of minimum speed of 100 MBps.
India now joins a select set of countries that offer 5G telephony and these include the US, Korea, UK, Japan, China and European nations.
Modi launched the services at the annual Indian mobile congress in the presence of industry leaders.

While remaining deeply disturbed by the situation in Ukraine, India on Friday joined China, Brazil and Gabon in abstaining from voting on a UNSC resolution that condemned the ‘illegal’ refrendums held by Russia to annex four regions of Ukraine and called upon Moscow to unconditionally withdraw troops.
Barring a couple of procedural votes, India’s consistent position has seen it abstaining from all UN resolutions condemning Russia.

The gross GST revenue collected in September totalled ₹1.47 lakh crore.
Data was released by finance ministry.
This is the seventh month in a row in which receipts have been more than ₹1.4 lakh crore.
In August, 7.7 crore e-bills were generated marginally higher than 7.5 crore last year.
