Prime minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated the renaming of Rajpath as kartavya path and installation of the statue of the Netaji Subhash chandra bose at the India gate canopy.
He termed it a historical milestone towards erasure of colonial domination as well as testimonies to the emergence of India as a resurgent nation.
Rajpath which as earlier known as kingsway before independence will now be called Kartavya path.
A 28 feet statue was also installed at the India gate canopy under which the statue of british monarch George V once stood.

Indian and Chinese troops on Thursday kicked off disengagement from patrolling point 15 in the larger Gogra-Hotsprings area of Eastern ladakh.
Although there is still no progress in the much bigger face-offs at Demchok and the strategically located Depsang plains in the continuing 28 month long military confrontation in the high altitude region.
This disengagement may well set the stage for a bilateral meet between PM Modi and China president Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai cooperation organization summit in Uzbekistan on September 15-16.

Pakistan will get upgrades to the tune of $450 million for its approximately 85 F-16 fighter jets.
The US state Department said Pakistan had made a request for upgradation of F-16.
