# United kingdom

  • Liz Truss has won the conservative leadership race and will become the next UK prime Minister on Tuesday after defeating Narayana Murthi’s son in law Rishi Sunak in the contest.
  • Truss, aged 47, will become the third female PM in British political history after travelling to meet the queen at Balmorai in Scotland on Tuesday.
  • She is a graduate in philosophy, politics and economics from oxford, where she was born.
  • She received 81326 votes in the members ballot almost 21000 more than Sunak, who garnered 60399 votes.

# Airbag

  • At least 90% of the vehicles running on Indian roads do not come with six airbags and this key safety feature is just limited to high end vehicles.
  • The two airbag feature, now standard across vehicles, also came in after the government mandated it through an order, forcing all car companies to upgrade from January this year.
  • India has the highest road fatalities in the world.
  • India has 1% of the global vehicle population but its share in road deaths is 11%.

# Services sector

  • Activity in the country’s crucial services sector remained robust in August on the back of new business while employment witnessed the sharpest rise in 14 years, a, survey showed on Monday.
  • Rising from the July’s four month low of 55.5 to 57.2 in August the S&P global India services PMI business activity index highlighted the rebound in growth.

# Rajpath

  • The centre is set to rename Rajpath and central vista lawns as kartavya path.
  • The NDMC has convened a special meeting on Wednesday to adopt a new name.
  • The entire area and area from the netaji statue to Rashtrapati bhawan will be renamed as Kartavya path.
