# Covid cases

  • Fresh covid-19 cases in India in the week ending sunday surged to the highest in nearly four months with close to 80000 new infections.
  • It is 62% higher than the previous week tally.
  • Although deaths from the virus remained very low compared to previous outbreaks.
  • Delhi recorded 1530 new covid-19 cases on Sunday and three deaths.

# Agniveer

  • No youngster taking part in the ongoing violent protests against the agnipath scheme, will be inducted into the armed forces, the military establishment warned on Sunday.
  • Military establishment also stressed that there will be no rollback of agnipath scheme.
  • The recruitment of agniveers will kick off next week with the training of agniveers to begin in November-December.
  • Various reservations were announced for agniveers coming out of job in police forces and elsewhere.

# FATF

  • The Financial action task force (FATF) a Paris based inter governmental watchdog on anti money laundering and counter terror financing, will evaluate in May next year India’s efforts towards enforcement of laws related to black money and terror financing.
  • The mutual evaluation and a good score by the FATF is important for the country to remain integrated with the global financial system.
  • India’s mutual evaluation by the FATF have been postponed twice since 2019, will take place in May 2023.

# Afghanistan

  • Hours after the terror attack on Kabul gurudwara, the Indian government granted e-visas to about 111 afghan Sikhs and Hindus on Saturday.
  • Sixty applications are still pending.
