# National medical commission

  • After all the controversy about the national medical commission (NMC) apparently proposing to replace the Hippocratic oath with the Charak sampath, the new draft regulation for professional conduct put out by the NMC, neither the word charak nor Hippocratic figure anywhere.
  • The draft regulation includes a “physician pledge” which is the declaration of Geneva as amended in 2017 by the world medical association.
  • The NMC has posted the draft registered medical practitioners (professional conduct) regulation 2022 for comments from the public, experts and stakeholders.

#Defense ministry

  • The Defense ministry on Sunday gave the initial approval to several military modernisation projects worth ₹76000 crores, including the construction of eight next generation Corvette for the Navy.
  • The Corvette to be designed for anti surface and anti submarine warfare as well as anti missile defense operations, will be constructed at an estimated cost of 36000 crore by an Indian shipyard picked through competitive bidding.
  • The Defense acquisition council also accorded AONs for manufacture of Dornier aircraft and Sukhoi – 30 MK1 aero engines by Hindustan Aeronautics limited.

# European Union

  • India is set to launch negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union on June 17, with duty concessions on imported wines and automobile expected to figure during the talks.
  • During 2021-22, the EU was India’s second largest trading partners with exports and imports adding upto $116 billion.
  • The US was India’s second largest trading partner with exports and imports adding $119 billion during the last financial year.

# Russia

  • India is looking to double down on its Russian oil imports with state owned refiners eager to make more heavily discounted supplies from Rosneft as global players turned down dealings with Moscow over its war with Ukraine.
  • State processors are collectively working on finalising and securing new six months supply contracts for Russian crude to India.
