# kashmir

  • Two unidentified Jaish e Mohammed terrorists on a fidayeen (suicide) mission were killed in Jammu on Friday.
  • Incident happened two days ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s first public address in J&K since the removal of special status under article 370 in August 2019.
  • Preliminary information suggested that the terrorists were non-locals and recently infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

# India-UK relations

  • Prime minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson on Friday agreed on a new and expanded India – UK defence partnership.
  • They both reiterated their commitment to seal an ambitious free trade agreement by the end of this year.
  • Boris Johnson said that UK is creating an open General export license (OGEL) for India to reduce bureaucracy and slashing delivery times for defence procurement.
  • The British Prime Minister said both sides agreed to work together to meet new threats across land, sea, air, space and cyber domains and the UK will partner with India on new fighter jet technology.

# Postal ballot for NRIs

  • Chief election commissioner Sushil chandra, during a recent visit to South Africa and Maldives, urged non resident Indians (NRIs) to register as overseas electors.
  • Sushil chandra told them that a proposal on postal ballots for NRIs was being contemplated.
  • According to an ECI official, as of now there are only 1.12 lakh registered overseas electors.

# ISRO

  • The Indian space research organization is aimed to carry out a landing experiment (LEX), a critical component of the reusable launch vehicle technology Demonstrator ( RLV-TD) programme in next few days.
  • RLV-LEX involves taking an unmanned, winged prototype to an altitude of 2.3 KM to 2.4KM on a helicopter and releasing it to land at a Defence research development organization air strip at chitradurg, Karnataka.
