# Srilanka

  • Srilanka’s finance minister Ali Sabry said that Srilanka’s economic recovery will depend on the reforms undertaken with the IMF’s support.
  • Ali sabry is visiting Washington DC to lead the Srilankan delegation in negotiation with the International monetary Fund.
  • According to a recent world Bank report on Srilanka, the pandemic years saw at least 5 lakh more people fall below the poverty line, owing to severe job and income losses.

# Vietnam

  • Prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with the general secretary of the communist party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu trong, and exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the situation in the South China Sea.
  • The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the rapid pace of wide ranging cooperation under the India-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership which was established during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam.
  • They complemented each other on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries.

# Egypt

  • Egypt, one of the World’s biggest importers of wheat which has been importing the grain from Russia and Ukraine, has agreed to source wheat from India.
  • This has been informed by union minister for trade and commerce.
  • Officials from agriculture quarantine and pest risk analysis of Egypt visited various processing units, port facilities and farms in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab.
  • Egypt imported 6.1 million tonnes of wheat in 2021 and India was then not part of the list of the accredited countries that could export wheat to Egypt.
  • More than 80% of Egypt’s wheat imports estimated to be close to $2 billion in 2021 were from Russia and Ukraine.

# Israel

  • Atleast 152 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli riots police inside Jerusalem’s Al asqa mosque compound on Friday.
  • Palestinian red Cresent said, most of the injuries were incurred by rubber bullets, stun grenades and beating by the police.
