# Vaccination

  • The Union health ministry on Friday announced that the precautionary or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine would be made available to 18+ population at private vaccination centres.
  • The administration of this dose would begin on April 10.
  • All those who have completed nine months after the second dose would be eligible for it.

# CAA rules

  • The ministry of home affairs has sought another six months to frame the rules of Citizenship amendment Act, 2019.
  • It is a legislation to fast track the citizenship process of six persecuted minority communities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
  • The act cannot be implemented without framing the rules.
  • The ministry has written to the Subordinate committee on parliamentary legislation of the Loksabha and Rajya sabha, seeking an extension till October 9.
  • The Home ministry has already sought three extensions before.

# FCRA

  • The supreme Court on Friday upheld amendments introducing restrictions in the foreign contributions regulation act (FCRA) while holding that no one has a fundamental or absolute right to receive foreign contributions.
  • The restrictions involve a bar on using operational FCRA accounts to get foreign contributions and mandatory production of the Aadhar card for registration under the FCRA.
  • They require NGOs and recipients to open a new FCRA account at a specified branch of the State bank of India in New Delhi as “one point entry” for foreign donations.

# Tax to GDP ratio

  • India’s Gross tax revenues surged 34% in 2021-22 to exceed ₹37 lakh crore.
  • It has lifted the tax to GDP ratio to an atleast 23 year high of 11.7% from 10.3% in the previous year.
  • Tax estimates were ₹5 lakh crore more than budget estimates.
