# Pakistan

  • Pakistan’s supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on checking the constitutionality of the Imran khan government’s decision of dismissing the no – confidence motion in Parliament.
  • Supreme Court has assured a ‘reasonable order’ in this high profile case.
  • President Arif alvi, who dissolved the National assembly on the advice of Prime minister Imran khan, the supreme Court bar Association and all political parties have been made respondent in the case.
  • Meanwhile, Imran khan has nominated former chief justice Gulzar ahmad for the office of caretaker Prime minister.

# Srilanka

  • Srilankan president Gotabaya Rajapaksha on Monday invited all parties in Parliament to work with him and jointly address the country’s spiralling crisis.
  • All major opposition parties, however, rejected the offer, reminding the president of the people’s chief demand that he and his family members in government quit immediately.
  • Scores of citizens have been protesting incessantly across the Island nation, even defying curfews during the weekend.

# Criminal procedure bill

  • The loksabha on Monday passed the criminal procedure (identification) bill, 2022 by voice vote.
  • It seeks to repeal the identification of prisoners act, 1920.
  • This bill allows the collection, storage and analysis of physical and biological samples, including retina and iris scan of the convicted, arrested and detained persons.

# Foreign secretary

  • The Union Government has appointed ambassador to Nepal Vinay mohan Kwatra as the next foreign secretary.
  • Mr. Kwatra is set to assume charge on April 30, the day present foreign secretary Harshavardhan shringla retires.
