# Exports

  • India’s annual good exports crossed $400 billion mark for the first time ever.
  • Exports are buoyed by an increase in shipments of merchandise, including engineering products, apparel and garments, gems and jewellery and petroleum products.
  • Exports had reached $331.02 billion in the pre pandemic fiscal year of 2018-19.
  • Commerce ministry expects the exports to cross $410 billion.

# Chinese Finance minister

  • Chinese foreign minister Wang yi is expected to land in Delhi in Thursday evening for the first such visit by a Chinese official since the PLA transgressions at the Line of actual control in April 2020.
  • Wang yi is expected to meet external affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and national security advisor Ajit Doval.
  • They are expected to discuss the way forward on LAC issue, the war in Ukraine and the BRICS process.

# G20

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin received valuable backing from Beijing on Wednesday in a pushback to suggestions by some members that Russia could be barred from the G20 group.
  • The US and its western allies are assessing whether Russia should remain within the group of twenty major economies following its invasion of Ukraine.
  • China, which has not condemned Russia’s invasion, defended Moscow, calling Russia an important member of the G20 group.

# Abel prize

  • The Norwegian academy of Science and letters had awarded the Abel prize for the year 2022 to American mathematicians Dennis parnell Sullivan.
  • He is with the Graduate school and University center of the city university of New York and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
