# COVID vaccination

  • The centre has decided to start Covid-19 vaccination for the 12-14 age group (those born from 2008 to 2010) from March 16.
  • The vaccine to be administered would be Corbevax, manufactured by Biological E limited, Hyderabad.
  • The ministry has also decided that condition of co morbidity for Covid-19 precaution dose for the population aged over 60 will be removed from March 16.

# Inflation

  • India’s retail inflation inched up to an eight month high of 6.07% in February from 6.01% in January.
  • Rural India experienced a sharper price rise at 6.38%.
  • For Urban consumers, the inflation rate fell from 5.91% in January to 5.75% in February.
  • Food and beverages inflation hit a 15 month high.

# TMC MLA

  • Well-known Bengali writer and Trinamool congress MLA Manoranjan Vyapari has courted controversy after a video of his speech targeting biharis went viral on social media.
  • He described biharis as ‘bimaris’ and asked them to leave West Bengal.
  • Leader of opposition Suvendhu Adhikari of BJP targeted Mamta Banarjee over this remark.

# Import – Export

  • India exported merchandise worth $34.57 billion in February, about 25% higher than a year earlier.
  • Imports grew 36% to $ 55.45 billion, as per fresh estimates released on Monday.
  • Trade deficit widened to $20.9 billion in February from the five month low of $17.4 billion recorded in January.
