# Lalu prasad yadav

  • A CBI special court on Monday sentenced Rashtriya janta Dal chief Lalu prasad yadav to a five year jail term and imposed a fine of 60 lakh rupees.
  • The court announced verdict in the fifth case of animal husbandry Department scam case commonly known as fodder scam.
  • This case is related to the fraudulent withdrawal of 139.5 crore rupees from the treasury at Doranda in Jharkhand from in 1992 to 1995.

# Caste census

  • Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that caste based census being demanded by his party will benefit all sections of society.
  • He will convene an all party meeting soon to discuss the holding of such an exercise in the state.
  • Caste census is one of the oldest demands of JDU an ally of the BJP.
  • Nitish Kumar said he will try to create consensus before taking up the exercise.

  • The Drugs controller general of India has given emergency use authorisation to vaccine maker Biological Es covid-19 vaccine Corbevax for the 12-18 age group.
  • Tweeting the news union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said it is the first indigenously developed Receptor binding domain protein sububnit vaccine against Covid-19.
  • The vaccine is administered through an intramuscular route with two doses scheduled 28 days apart.

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin will recognize the independence of Eastern Ukraine’s separatist republics.
  • French President Emanuel macron and German Chancellor Olaf sholz had expressed disappointment over the decision in phone calls with Putin.
