# Hijab row

  • US ambassador at large for international religious freedom Rashad Hussain voiced his opinion on the Karnataka Hijab row.
  • India on Saturday responded to his comment saying “motivated comments on our internal issues are not welcomed”.
  • A matter regarding dress code in some educational institutions in Karnataka is under judicial Examination by the Honourable high court of Karnataka.

# Afghanistan

  • India signed an agreement with the United nation’s world Food programme (WFP) for the distribution of 50000 tonnes of wheat that it has committed to sending Afghanistan as part of Humanitarian assistance.
  • Diplomatic efforts are underway to begin sending truck convoys through Pakistan by road.
  • The transport is expected to begin after the Punjab election on February 20.
  • The headquarters of World Food programme is situated in Rome.

# Singapore airshow

  • The Indian Airforce will be pitching the indigenous light combat aircraft Tejas Mk1 alongside participants from across the world at the Singapore air show next week.
  • Three Light combat aircrafts along with a 44 member contingent of the IAF reached the Changi international airport to participate in the airshow scheduled to be held from February 15 to 18.
  • The Indian Airforce had participated in Similar airshows like LIMA -2019 in Malaysia and Dubai airshow – 2021.

# Coal India

  • State owned coal India limited on Saturday said it is currently supplying about 3.4 lakh tonnes of coal per dat to the non-power sector.
  • The non-power sector imports about 170 millions tonnes of coal in any given fiscal for blending with domestic coal.
