# Punjab

  • Enforcement directorate on Friday arrested Bhupinder singh honey, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit singh channi’s nephew, in connection with an illegal sand mining case.
  • He was later produced before a special court and sent to ED custody till February 8.
  • Congress leader Rahul gandhi is scheduled to announce the party’s chief ministerial candidates on February 6 at a, rally in Ludhiana.

# Statue of equality

  • Telangana chief secretary Somesh kumar has exuded confidence that the 216 feet statue of Bhakti saint Sri Ramanujacharya at Srirama Nagaram in Muchintal is set to become one of the landmark tourist sites of the states.
  • Prime minister Narendra Modi will visit the place to finally dedicate the statue of equality to the nation on Saturday.
  • This is said to be the second highest statue in the sitting pose.

# China-Russia

  • China and Russia on Friday outlined a sweeping vision for future of their already close relations as their two leaders met in Beijing.
  • Both countries accused US and NATO of their expansionist policies in Europe.
  • The joint statement also said both sides would deepen cooperation with India through the Russia-India-China framework and also work to boost groupings.

# Coal India

  • Coal India limited the world’s largest coal miner, plans to directly export output to neighbouring countries.
  • Untill now, CIL is only supplying to domestic market.
  • The state run firm plans to export to Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal this year.
