# Maharashtra

  • The supreme Court on Friday revoked the one year suspension of 12 MLAs from the Maharashtra assembly.
  • Supreme Court called it an Irrational act that would impact the Democratic set up, leave constituencies unrepresented and help governments thin majority manipulate number.
  • The BJP legislators were suspended for a year for “disorderly conduct” in the house during the monsoon session in 2021.
  • Supreme Court said that the suspension beyond the remainder period of ongoing session was a grossly irrational measure.

# Pakistan

  • India is positive and Willng to engage in talks with Pakistan on upgrading the 1974 joint protocol on religious pilgrimages.
  • The 1974 joint protocol on religious pilgrimage allow air travel and increase the number of shrines that pilgrims from both countries could visit.
  • The government’s response follows a report that the Pakistan government had sent a proposal from the Pakistan hindu council to allow a group of 170 pilgrims to fly directly from Lahore and Karachi to places of worship in India.

  • The Drugs controller general of India has given vaccine manufacturer Bharat biotech approval for conducting phase 3 trial of an intranasal booster dose for those who have received both doses of Covaxin.
  • Only the batches certified by the central drugs laboratory, Kasauli shall be used in the clinical trial.
  • The trial will be conducted at nine sites including All India Institute of medical science Delhi and Patna.

# Google

  • Google will invest upto $1 billion in Indian telecom giant Bharti airtel including $700 million for a 1.28% equity stake, the two companies said on Friday.
  • The US based tech firm has acquired a 7.73℅ stake in Bharti Airtel’s rival platform Jio for $ 4.5 billion in 2020.

# Winter Olympics

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistan prime minister Imran khan and five presidents from Central Asia will be among the two dozen world leaders heading to beijing next week for the opening of the winter Olympics.
  • The Chinese and Russian President will discuss the security situation in Europe amid Ukraine crisis.
