The cabinet on wednesday cleared a 30,600 crore rupees guarantee programme for securities to be issued by the newly incorporated “bad bank” for taking over and resolving non-performing assets (NPAs) amounting to 2 lakh crore rupees.
The Reserve bank of India is in the process of granting a licence for the National asset Reconstruction company limited (NARCL).
Back stop arrangement – A 15% cash payment would be made to the banks based on some valuation and the rest will given as security receipts.
# Delhi-Mumbai expressway
Union minister for road Transport and Highways Nitin gadkari on Thursday said his ministry has been working on 15 projects worth 53,000 crore rupees to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Delhi.
Union minister is on a two day site visit and inspection of the 1380 km long under construction Delhi-Mumbai expressway across different states.
The expressway passes through six states – Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
# GST council meet
The goods and services tax (GST) council meeting will be held on Friday.
The issue of petrol and diesel to be included into GST scheme wil be discussed.
This will be the first physical meeting since the onset of the pandemic.
# National cadet corps
The defence ministry has constituted an expert committee under the chairmanship of former MP Baijyant Panda.
Panel will do a comprehensive review of of the NCC to make it more relevant with changing times.
The 15 member committee includes cricketer MS Dhoni and Mahindra group chairman Anand Mahindra.
