# India-US talks

 

 

  • The United states is to collaborate with India to work towards installing 450GW of renewable energy by 2030.
  • USA is looking forward to partnering with India in bringing finance, technology and other elements needed to achieve it.
  • Currently, India’s installed power capacity is projected to be 476 GW by 2021-22 and is expected to rise to atleast 817 GW by 2030.

 

 

 

# Inflation

 

 

  • India’s retail inflation cooled to 5.3% in August from 5.6% in July.
  • Food price inflation has fallen to 3.11% from nearly 4% in July.
  • This marks the second month of marginal moderation in the consumer price index (CPI).

 

 

 

# Central public works department

 

 

  • The central public works department has reduced the estimated cost of construction and maintenance of three buildings of the common central secretariat.
  • As part of the larger central vista redevelopment project, the CPWD has proposed construction of 10 buildings for the common central secretariat to house all union ministeries.

 

 

 

# Booster shots

 

 

  • An expert review published in medical journal The Lancet has recommended that booster doses for the general population are not appropriate at this stage of covid-19 pandemic.
  • An international group of scientists, including those at the world health organisation and the US Food and Drug Administration agency, has concluded that even for delta variant, vaccine efficacy is sufficient.
