# Afghanistan evacuation

 

 

  • India on sunday airlifted 392 persons from Kabul in an operation that covered Indian citizens as well as Afghan nationals.
  • Most of the Afghan citizens include Hindus and sikhs.
  • Air India and Indigo operated two flights via Tajikistan and Qatar.

 

 

 

# Income tax portal glitch

 

 

  • The new income tax filing portal has become inaccessible over the weekend and yet to become functional 77 days after its launch.
  • Finance ministry has summoned Infosys managing director and CEO salil parikh to explain the mess to Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in person.
  • Just hours after the “Summons”, the income tax portal became accessible again late on Sunday.

 

 

 

# Moplah “martyrs” or “rioters”

 

 

  • Malabar rebellion leaders Variamkunnath Kunhamed Haji, Ali Musaliar and 387 other so called “Moplah martyrs” will be removed from the dictionary of martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.
  • A three member panel, which reviewed the entries in the fifth volume of the dictionary brought out by the Indian council of historical research (ICHR), is understood to have recommended the deletion as it felt that the 1921 rebellion was never part of the the Independence struggle.
  • Panel has found that rebellion was a fundamentalist movement focused on religious conversion.

 

 

 

# Hurriyat conference

 

 

  • A ban under the stringent unlawful activities prevention act may be imposed on both factions of the secessionist conglomerate, the hurriyat conference.
  • Hurriyat conference has been spearheading the separatist movement in Jammu and Kashmir for over two decades.
